A Touch of Nature @ Mecheda

Like most of the country-side stations of Bengal, Mecheda is also surrounded with lush green covers & water bodies-though a bit marred by the fly-ash coming off Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant. The favourite Bengali platter - the Hilsa fish, which once used to flock the Rupnarayan river in the proximity has become a rarity now owing to the influx from KTPP. However, the station is widely used as important halt in HWH-KGP division of SER. The part on the right of the photo hosts the platforms while the other part is goods yard separated by the pond. A Sam photocall.
